Bristol’s Pedigree

Bristol was the fourth born of the B litter.  She has always been a very beautiful girl – long, tall, and with gorgeous curves.  She has also always been a bit of a loner as far as hanging out with other dogs but her sister Bracken is a good friend.  Bristol learned from a young age that she could be the center of any crowd of people and learned to work that.  She loves any public outing or event.  I have to hold onto her collar getting out of the van as she will run through the neighborhood looking for people to say hi to!

Bristol went into heart failure in January of 2026.  She had a hard time adjusting to the new medications, and it took her awhile to start feeling better.  Finally she seemed to be turning the corner and feeling better.  I came home from work on a Wednesday evening in March.  It was nice out and still light, so I took the dogs on a walk at the field.  Towards the end of the walk, Bristol started flipping over one of her rear legs.  Her pain increased overnight, and I assumed she had injured her back.  She rested on pain medication on Thursday but the use of her one rear leg kept deteriorating.  I had a real struggle getting her out to the van on Friday morning and took her into work to be checked over.  By the time my vet was able to examine her she had lost all the feeling in both of her back legs and still was in an extreme amount of pain.  My vet thinks that she threw a clot to her spine.  She had also suffered a stomach ulcer in December and with her heart, medication, further testing, or surgery were not a viable option.  I made the difficult decision to set my beautiful girl free.  I miss her greatly and think about her every day.
